“It’s A Mixed Up, Muddled Up, Shook Up World …..”

Woke up this morning to see a grumpy deranged old white man took out 50+ folks and injured 100’s more in Sin City.  I wish the government could reallocate our tax dollars going to malingers and slackers, illegal and otherwise, to provide better mental health care for wack jobs like this guy.  Wait maybe this guy had an Obamacare policy that provided mental health coverage and he didn’t use it do to the high deductable/co-pay.

Standing, Kneeling, Squating, ……….

So some individuals aren’t standing during our National Anthem at a football game.  Big deal!  Look around at any large gathering where the National Anthem is played and you will notice that.  Oh, but those currently in the spotlight are “important” people.  These NFL “players” are nothing more than self absorbed prima donna’s who along with their counterparts in the movie/TV industry have some sort of fantasy that their opinion really matters to Main street America.  As is typical the mainstream media is jumping all over this latest kerfuffle and sensationalizing it to the point one might think mankind is teetering on the edge of oblivion.  Never mind that deprived dude in North Korea.  The scary reality is is that there are people who do cling to every word and action of these pop culture entertainment elitists.  Those are the dangerous elements.

Makes One Wonder

Image result for top secret Read an article today regarding Hillary and her aides possibly losing their security clearances.  Why is any former politician and their staff entitled to access secret and sensitive documents once they are no longer in office?  Why would they need this info?  Seems ripe for abuse.  Could be one reason they can rake in big bucks when joining the civilian working world.  Require them to use the Freedom of Information process like any other citizen.  This is the kind of stuff that makes me scratch my head and explains some of the non-sense of how are country is running at the federal level.

Internet Sales Tax

So why does a resident of Idaho making an online purchase that will be shipped to another state, Louisiana as an example,  have to pay that states sales tax on their purchase?  Does that Idaho resident still have to claim that purchase on their Idaho income tax return?

Idaho Mandatory Auto Insurance

Became aware of this from Dad and Norma’s recent experience.  Here is the background – Norma was driving their brand new vehicle home from Pocatello.  As I recall they took deliver of the car a few days earlier and it had 100 or so miles on it.  Cruising down the interstate Norma came upon a pickup with a clothes dryer dancing around in the pickup bed since it was not secured.  Oh,  the tailgate wasn’t in the up position either.  Long story short the pickup contacts Dad and Norma’s nice shiny blemish free vehicle causing significant damage.  The pickup driver is at fault and has no insurance.  Idaho law requires insurance to register a vehicle.  The police come and do their duty after which the pickup driver hops in the pickup and drives off!!  Common sense would seem to dictate that the pickup driver be given a ride to the local jail and the pickup impounded until proof of insurance is presented.  Apparently, that is not how the law works.  Question – what if this pickup driver got involved in another accident after this and a fatality was involved?  Couldn’t the state of Idaho be a party to that since they let the driver go?

Electoral College

For those grumbling about the recent election and why a candidate with a majority of the popular vote can still lose please take some time to study U.S history and why the electoral college was designed the way it is by the founding fathers.  A recent article (sorry can’t find the link) had the best yet example of how the Electoral College functioned as planned.  In a nutshell the article pointed out that if California was removed from the overall results Trump would have easily had a majority of the popular vote.  Clinton did win California and its’ 55 Electoral College votes.  But as we know that was not enough to crown her POTUS.   If the president was chosen by simple majority California alone would have determined the winner.  And this is fundamentally what the Founding Fathers did not want to happen.

My personal belief is that the people up in arms over the Electoral College process is evidence that our schools are not covering the Constitution and Declaration of Independence as they should be.  If you would like to do a study please checkout the online course from  Hillsdale College.

Cleansing History Hypocrisy

vladpicSo the populist uprising to rid the country of any remnants of the Confederate flag is reaching a fervor. Amazon has cleared its’ virtual shelves of all items displaying the image. But what about items referring to Lenin, Stalin and Guevara? They are still proudly being sold by the online giant. What about the statue honoring Lenin in Fremont, Washington? When will it come down? And the ultimate, quoting Louis Farrakhan – “I don’t know what the hell is the fight about over the American flag. We need to put the American flag down, because we got as much hell under that!”. Maybe Gruber was right.
