Info regarding site.

Safe and Secure Again

Happy to report the site is all safe and secure once again.  You can go back to using https://BoiseNeus.org and feel all warm and fuzzy that some Russian basement dweller isn’t gathering your personal data.  With that said there is no cause for concern since I do not gather any data, sensitive or otherwise, from visitors to the site. I set https up to prevent your browser from displaying an ominous message/icon indicating the site could be potentially dangerous.  Google is pushing that all sites implement https. Of course implementing https can incur additional costs.  Good news is my host provides a free certificate.  The bad news is that certificate does not cover my sub-domain site ppcs.BoiseNeus.org.  I am researching a couple no cost options to cover both.   Stay tuned.

Electrolysis??!!!!

If you have bookmarked BoiseNeus.org using https://BoiseNeus.org you should change it back to http unless you are looking for an electrolysis lab in Canada.  I have had to temporarily disabled my SSL cert which means the https will not point to our site.  Do to the vagaries of the Internet, my hosting service and SSL if you use https://BoiseNeus.org you are directed to the above mentioned site.  No cause for concern.  For now just use http://BoiseNeus.org and don’t worry since the site does not collect any sensitive information.

I will have my SSL active in the next few days.

Sorry ’bout this inconvenience.

Rolling Out New Website

Want to let all my BoiseNeus.org follower’s know about my new website.  Since my winter goal is to get deep into webdesign using WordPress I thought creating a new site would be a good place to start.  You will notice that it is also promoting my tech support in addition to minor bicycle maintenance and repair.  Killing two birds with one stone.  So for those in the Boise area feel free to pass on the site to those who need some tech help and/or bike work.

Focus of the site is technology and bicycles.  Going forward I will not be posting geeky articles on BoiseNeus.org.   I kindly ask that you visit the site and give it a looksy.  There is a post regarding the Windows 10 major update rolling out now.  I would greatly appreciate feedback you may have.  To receive email notification of new posts follow the steps to subscribe.  No, your subscribing to BoiseNeus.org does not carry over to the new site, which is http://ppcs.BoiseNeus.org

Membership now needed for the protected pages.

Now that the laundry room project is over and the new washing machine tested I find myself with some spare time.  So I have changed the method of “protecting” the private pages (Photos and Journals) of the website.  I have gone from a simple password protection scheme to a membership requirement .   Yes, it means yet another username/password to remember but keep this one simple.  It is not like you are logging into Fort Knox.

Now when you click the Photos or Journals tab the registration process will begin.  It is a straightforward process and should be painless.

Please pass on questions and issues.

Thanks.

Password Required

I have been wrestling with the idea of locking down the personal parts of the site. That would be the Journals, Photos, Projects and Videos.  Options were to leave them wide open, require a username and password or just set a password on the affected pages.  Since I am old school and choose not to let the entire world in on my bathroom face lift like the Facebook addicts option 1 was was not an option.  Settled on a simple password protection since it should be the least disruptive.  Technically the username/password would have been funner to implement though.  Subscribers will be receiving the password in an email with more details.  For you non-subscribers please send me a request for a prompt reply with the password.
