Standing, Kneeling, Squating, ……….

So some individuals aren’t standing during our National Anthem at a football game.  Big deal!  Look around at any large gathering where the National Anthem is played and you will notice that.  Oh, but those currently in the spotlight are “important” people.  These NFL “players” are nothing more than self absorbed prima donna’s who along with their counterparts in the movie/TV industry have some sort of fantasy that their opinion really matters to Main street America.  As is typical the mainstream media is jumping all over this latest kerfuffle and sensationalizing it to the point one might think mankind is teetering on the edge of oblivion.  Never mind that deprived dude in North Korea.  The scary reality is is that there are people who do cling to every word and action of these pop culture entertainment elitists.  Those are the dangerous elements.

Secure or Not Secure • That Is the Question

Some readers have inquired as to whether BoiseNeus.org is secure. Typically, this has come to their attention from messages or icons displayed by their browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge – hopefully not IE!).  If you are one of those folks seeing that message simply change your bookmark for the site to https://BoiseNeus.org.  The “s” in https being the critical character.  With that new bookmark you will be in a safe and snug environment just like when accessing your financial sites.

Bogus – Yea, I Did That!

Well, I still have the legs to make the 16 mile 4062 foot climb up to the Bogus ski lodge.  Total miles 42.3 – elapsed time 3:42:31 non-stop.  Time for the 16 miles bottom to top climb 2:07.  Considerably longer then my best but the goal for this day was to simply make it.  On my record time I was packing 20+ fewer pounds and was 20 some years younger.  This was also my first 40+ mile ride since July 2014.  Which was also to Bogus and took 3:27 to complete.  Bike was a little skittish on the decent.  Most likely caused by my lack of high speed descent training.  So far other then sore and tight thighs I feel pretty good.  Now I have a time to beat next year.

Cheers!

Trip to Costco

Remind me.  It was Labor Day recently right?  Paula and I made a visit to Costco to get some gas and salt today.  Strolling down the aisle a lady up ahead was promoting their Fresh Country French bread.  Getting nearer I thought was seeing things.  Kinda’ like a distant mirage.  There in the cooler next to the bread lady were pumpkin pies.  Good grief we just wrapped up the first week of September.  Add this to the pre-seasonal holiday marketing hype.   Now not only are Halloween costumes showing up on Labor Day but so are Thanksgiving pumpkin pies.

I’m wondering if Costco stocking up on pumpkin pie filling is going to cause a shortage of jack-o-lanterns this October.

You guessed it.  We left with two loaves of bread and one pumpkin pie in our cart along with the salt!
